Game mode/events ideas. Rambo/Special forcess mode.

Well this is partly wondering if we could get a sub-topic for this kind of thing. I loved Gus's Ready the Catapults! event idea. I thought it would be fun if there was somewhere to share other ideas, even if they are a bit far-fetched.

I've also been thinking about one I've been pjatting about ocassionally in-game, half-joking and has had some positive feedback. It would really need a mod to do, but it should be doable from what I know of the UE4 Editor. Basically it would be what I think of as Rambo or action hero mode. One side would have us regular ssoldiers the other would have a one man army. It ought to be pretty easy to mod a role to have massive ammounts of health, stamina and a farcical kit/weapon loadout.

It would probably be best to be guaged towards short matches/objectives so there is a good turnaround for players to be Rambo. A less extreme imbalance version could be a Delta Force/SAS/Spetznas game mode, basically with a similar premise but more in-keeping with the current forces and nations. 1 Squad vs 4 or more (with team switching you could have 1 vs 7).

Am sort of looking for feedback on this, do you reckon it would work/be fun? Or is it more just a fun idea to banter about but probably wouldn't be that great in execution. Either way I think I'll have a little poke around on UE4 and see if it is as easily done as I hope.

I think a squad ops or hardcore style type game mode could be cool as well as. Another idea could be vics only mode where we just load up onto a large desert map and run around in btrs. Maybe a team death match style gameplay could be cool too, similar to something like COD.

Another idea is a large high rise filled with insurgents which a conventional force has to clear; the defenders could get one life each and the attackers could get 2 lives. Another idea could be a fortified compound that US/GB forces get to occupy. They have 15 minutes to place all of their emplacements then insurgents get to attack. Insurgents would get infinite respawns and a 15 second respawn timer attacking US/GB forces who have one respawn each. Insurgents would win if they destroyed the US/GB radio and the US/GB forces would win if they could last the rest of the 2 hours.

I quite like the idea of small scenario missions/objectives that could be played with 1 VS 1 or 2 VS 2 squads. Is a bit away from the main idea above but it could be quite useful for small friendly matches or situation specific training you wouldn't always get the chance to practice in a regular match.

This could be particularly useful for training scenarios with the new fireteam system that is coming. I'll probably have a go at this first as it is probably a better starting point for gettting to grips with game mode mods before getting too ambitious anyway. Am getting way ahead of myself, the Squad SDK is suprisingly robust but equally as intricate. I basically need to relearn half of UE4 for modding squad. Gonna keep chipping away for now though.

I have a few ideas that can be fun to play.

  1. Mario Kart, where we can race against each other in like teams of 2, where we can use the techy's with the bazooka on it and other vehicles. So it will be a competitive but fun event where we race against eachother with the vehicles Squad has to offer.
  2. Operations, where can play like hostage situations and other stuff, where we play PvP. So we have like two squads, one to defend the hostage and one to clear the hostage. Or some other operations, can be used to have fun. It is different than the public game, but can be fun if played seriously.
  3. Ready the Catapults (hardcore), this is an extended version of the previous event hosted by Gus. There were some others shouting the idea, but I liked it. And I think it should be heared by everyone. The event self was pretty amazing, pretty fun. We had 20 minutes to build a fort to defend in, the first team to dig the radio wins. But this time we have one defending team and one attacking team. Where we can attack with waves. So the game will have like 2 games, one attacking and one defending. The attacking team will operate in waves. So every single attacker has one life per wave. When the attacking team digs the radio, the waves are being count (with a max time ofc. else this can take ages). For example; when the attacking team digs the radio in 7 waves. The defending side will have the chance to attack as well, if they do it in less than 7 waves, they win. If they do it in 7 waves, there will be overtime. In this overtime, each team has only one wave, the last team standing wins the overtime. If they do it in 8 or more waves, they lose. This has to be written down fully, but this is an idea. I can work it out, if there are people interested (as well if the staff agrees).
